After a 20-odd year lull, the sport is back with a vengeance, and it is transforming the lives of women across Australia. Love Refugees by Beth Nelsen From Boundless Plains to Share, to the Land of the Free, to the World's Most Progressive City, and back again, a Native American living Down Under traverses bridges and borders, crossing hearts connected in search of a place where love counts. ![]() What started as a closer look into equal rights becomes a deeper look at identity as the filmmaker leaves Australia to go home to California and to Europe alone. Meeting with people whom she found in cyber space and others, she begins to find the very issues at hand may be history in repetition. A gentle rhapsody on humanity, Love Refugees is part observational, part essay, and a little bit personal. A 27 minute, solo-style documentary, this film is the culmination of Beth's Master's degree. |
